• How do I schedule an appointment to view the Evergreen Museum & Library for my event?

    Please call the Private Events Office at 443-840-9585 to schedule a viewing appointment. Viewing appointments are normally scheduled on Tuesday through Friday from 9:30am to 3:30pm and on weekends during set-up of an event as available.

    If you are interested in joining a tour of Evergreen Museum & Library mansion and collections, please visit the museum website for more information. Tours of Museum spaces are led by docent guides on the top of each hour while the Museum is open, with the last tour departing at 3pm.

  • What is the most common rental option for a wedding?

    Most of our weddings involve a ceremony and/or cocktail hour in the Gardens & Terrace followed by a reception in the Carriage House.

  • Seems like you have a lot of rules.

    We know we have more rules than most venues. However, they’re all there to protect the historic Museum and its collections. We have tons of ideas on how to customize your event within the guidelines!

  • Can I host just my wedding ceremony?

    Evergreen does not host ceremony-only events; all ceremonies must be booked in conjunction with a reception.

  • Are there any extra fees?

    Clients will need to purchase a liability insurance policy in the amount of $1,000,000 for their event. This protects you from incurring fees for any potential damage to the property on the date of your event and covers your guests and vendors while at Evergreen. This amount can also be added to a homeowners’ insurance policy.

    We also require either directional or full valet for events with more than 25 cars on the property. We can provide recommendations on vendors to contact for this service.

  • Do you host same-sex weddings?

    We definitely do! We are absolutely LGBTQ friendly and would love to host your event.

  • Do you host photoshoots or film shoots?

    We are able to accommodate small photo and film shoots on the grounds and in the Carriage House for a fee. Please inquire for more information.

  • How many guests can I have at my event?

    From March-December, Evergreen can accommodate 170 guests with a ceremony on-site (which allows us to accommodate a back-up rain plan in the Carriage House), 220 for a reception only, and 400 for a fully-tented Garden event. In the winter months of January through March, we remove the tent that adjoins to the Carriage House due to weather-related concerns, so during this time the Carriage House can only accommodate 150 guests seated.

  • May I bring in my own caterer or provide my own alcoholic beverages?

    You must choose from one of our five exclusive caterers. All alcohol must be procured and served by one of our exclusive caterers.

  • What is included with the rental?

    The rental includes a venue manager and one security guard. Tables and chairs are provided for use in the Carriage House, and a limited number of chairs and tables are available for cocktail receptions on the Terrace. A Preparation Suite is available one hour prior to the start time of your ceremony if it is held in the Gardens. If you are having your ceremony at Evergreen, we will also schedule a one-hour rehearsal, typically the day before your event depending on availability.

  • How much load-in and load-out time will I have?

    Events utilizing the Gardens, Terrace, & Carriage House include 4 hours of setup. Events utilizing only the Carriage House include 3 hours of setup. Load-out for all events is limited to 1.5 hours.

  • Do you allow early drop-offs and/or next-day pickups?

    Because Evergreen Museum & Library is a public museum, we are unable to permit early drop-offs or next-day pickups.

  • Where will my guests park?

    Evergreen has a large lawn area in front of the Carriage House that can accommodate 100 cars. Additionally, there is an overflow parking area that is available as needed. A limited number of cars are able to park adjacent to the Mansion to accommodate guests with mobility constraints. We also require either directional or full valet for events with more than 25 cars on the property. We can provide recommendations on vendors to contact for this service.

  • Do you have any restrictions on photography?

    As the Museum is open to the public until 4pm, photography around the immediate proximity of the Main House is not permitted until 4pm. Prior to 4pm, photography is permitted in the Gardens & Carriage House.

  • What is not permitted at the Evergreen?

    As stewards of this historic property, we cannot allow sparklers, confetti or other small particles, or aerial/drone photography that might damage the grounds or original buildings. Animals are not permitted on the property with the exception of service animals.
